How to write a Press Release

Press Release Template

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Header With First Letter Of Each Word Capitalized. No Exclamation Points or All Caps. Keep It Short And Very Catchy.

Portland, Or. - date (Free Geek) -First paragraph answers the questions who, what, when, where, why.

2nd, 3rd, 4th? paragraphs. Keep press release under 500 words. 2 -3 paragraphs is best. Last paragraph can be used for background info on Free Geek.

Sending the Press Release

There are a number of places to send Press Releases, such as newspapers, magazines, radio, and television. Online lists are also useful for getting out the Geek word, but don't utilize the press release format.
