If you've arrived at this page, you probably need to do 10-20 hours of volunteer service for your school program. If this sounds just about right, read on. If not, send an email to volunteer[at]freegeek.org with your needs.

Some general info

Just to let you know, we only take 10 service learning volunteers at any one time. So you might not be able to do your hours here. Sorry if we can't accommodate you, but we can only do so much. You're always welcome to join our ranks as a regular volunteer, but then we couldn't fill out any paperwork on you. No initial signing of agreements or super-short evaluations of your performance. Sorry.

Steps to becoming a service learning volunteer at Free Geek

  1. Take our tour: come in at noon or 6pm any Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. Sign up as a general volunteer at the end of the tour. You don't need an appointment for the tour, and the whole process should only take about 45 minutes.
  2. Talk to Jon Tester: he's our Operations Coordinator. He'll be able to tell you if there's room for more service learning volunteers in our program, sign your initial paperwork, and tell you when to sign up for your volunteer shifts. You'll be volunteering with him most of the time, as he'll be the one filling out your short evaluation at the end of your volunteer term. In other words, he'll be your Free Geek supervisor, your man with the plan, your go-to guy.
  3. Sign up for your shift, come in and volunteer, and log your hours after every shift: Rinse and repeat as necessary.

Pretty simple, huh? I hope you have a great time volunteering at Free Geek. If you have any other questions, feel free to send an email to volunteer[at]freegeek.org.
