Improving the Volunteer Experience
- Improving Volunteer Work Areas to allow for volunteers who do not want to have human interaction and to make work easier for everyone.
- Tightly define 3 distinct roles for volunteers; 1)Answering questions and Shelving 2) Cashier 3) "Back Office" work: Testing, Binding Cables, Pricing, etc.
- Create an honor-based agreement of expectation for the store to be initialed by voluteer upon first working there.
- Improve quality of the physical environment for volunteers through 1) Improved lighting 2) cleanliness 3) Good areas to rest or get away from people 4) rockin' music
- Change volunteer sign up sheet (for adoption) to inlclude Volunteer shifts on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (no new volunteers on Tuesday and Saturday)
Improving the Shopping Experience
- Improve merchandising of "hot" products
- Increase number of items that are priced
- Maintain an up-to-date price list that is visible to the customers
- Improve thematic organization of Merchandise
- Improve Quality of Stock (see section "Flow Control"
- Improve regularity of testing objects that are valuable and/or in demand such as KVMs, Wifi Adaptors, Motherboards, etc.
- Improve lighting and overall "warmth" of the store
Making More Money for Free Geek
- Identifying popular items that are underpriced (not whole systems, which are intentionally low)
