Note
While this page is categorized under Instructor Checklist, it's more a Task List. A floater should always identify him/herself to the staff person in each area so that if an area needs help, the staff person knows who they can ask.
Receiving
Is there a lack of volunteers?
- tell the Front Desk to direct folks to Receiving
- help unload donors' vehicles
Things calm?
- empty any full/overflowing boxes on the shelves
- fill empty space(s) on shelves with new box(es)
- empty cord cart
- test speakers, mice, or keyboards
- empty cardboard container
- break down unwanted boxes
A little hectic?
- look for new volunteers or volunteers who look lost and train them (or just help them out)
Store
Does anything simple need stocking?
- monitors
- speakers
- mice
- keyboards
- cables and cords
Prebuild
Are there lots of students?
- check on Card/MoBo sorting to allow instructor to focus on Eval 1 & 2 (or vice versa)
- see if anyone wants to test out
- check the cart
Things calm?
- meta triage
- gather up random recycle bits and pieces
- clean air filter in Eval 2
- check on the flow charts - do they need to be replaced?
Recycling
Hectic?
- Does the monitor tester need help?
Not many volunteers?
- ask to help with oddball gizmo or printer disassembly
- tell Front Desk to direct folks back to the Warehouse
Front Desk
Do they need an extra hand?
- does someone need a short break?
- sign up new volunteers in classroom (or elsewhere) to de-clutter the FD area
Tidy up
- change garbage
- check corkboard for outdated materials
- make sure Linux Clinic date is accurate on wipeboard
- clear off table under wipeboard
- tidy up free box (remove stuff that shouldn't be in there)
- water plants
Build
Just ask if they need help
- recycling boxes need to be emptied?
