User:Scellef/Distro Intern Description Draft
Based on the discussion had in the Distro meeting on 6 Oct 2011, a revision of the Distro Intern job description is in order. Specifically, we are looking for 3 interns to work collaboratively, with an optional focus on the following areas:
- Usability, UI & Design
- Bug reports/fixes
- Hardware Testing
Ideally, these internships would start with testing and researching different distributions and versions of distributions to help Free Geek to determine what the distro best fits its needs. The question currently is to determine whether a single job description is in order, or if separate ones that reflect the above paths will be necessary.
Our first concern is to determine who will or can take on being the Intern supervisor. The idea of the Distro Committee itself filling in the supervisory role was initially put forward, though concerns as to who will be accountable for seeing the Interns through their orientation and training may not be addressed. A possible solution could be for each of the interns to report to specific staff person based on their role (e.g., Usability & UI to Mike M., Bug reports/fixes to Vagrant, Hardware to Sean E.).
Below is a draft for the Distro Intern job description:
