What's the Council

The council is pretty much the ultimate authority, policy-wise, at FREE GEEK. The council's purview includes policies and decisions that effect multiple areas of FREE GEEK and those that might be controversial. It operates democratically on a consensus basis.

Who's the Council

The council consists of FREE GEEK community members - staff and volunteers - who wish to be involved with the direction FREE GEEK goes and the creation of policy. Council meetings are open to any member of the community. Council members gain the right to block consensus after they have attended three council meetings in a row.

For those who can't come to meetings but still want to know what's going on, there is an email list where council issues are discussed.

When's the Council

The council meets on the third Thursday of each month at 7:15 in the FREE GEEK Meeting Room. The facilitator and scribe for each meeting are selected at the meeting prior, and the agenda should be posted to the email list and the bulletin board (by the facilitator) well in advance of the meeting. Anyone can add items to the meeting agenda, but the facilitator has the right to organize them as s/he sees fit or may redirect them to an appropriate working group or standing committee.
