Changes made to Adobe Flash earlier this year included an instruction not supported by Athlon XP processors. This can be worked around by using an alternate version of the flash plugin separately maintained as part of another browser.

Ensure that Ubuntu Restricted Extras are installed. Make sure this includes the adobe-flashplugin package; if a different flash package is installed you will need to remove it and then install the correct package. While the system is connected to the FG LAN open a terminal and run the following commands in sequence:

wget http://tsbackup://flash-fix
chmod +x flash-fix
flash-fix
rm flash-fix

Now give flash a test-run and make sure it's working correctly! Note that if you're using YouTube to test you will want to right-click on the playing video and check that the context menu indicates that the browser is using Flash rather than falling back to HTML5.
