List of Policies - Policy Development

Policy

Current version approved at a staff meeting on February 5, 2010.

For Collective Members

A new mother or father may take up to 4 weeks of paid leave and up to an additional 8 weeks of unpaid leave, for a total of 12 weeks leave. 4 weeks of paid leave are separate from accrued PTO and do not affect PTO. Unpaid leave need not come out of the employee's accrued PTO, though the choice to use accrued PTO is at the discretion of the employee. An additional 12 weeks of unpaid leave is available to a woman for an illness, injury, or condition related to pregnancy and childbirth (know as Pregnancy Disability). The total amount of leave may not exceed 3 consecutive months.

For all other Staff Members

A new mother or father may take up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave. If applicable, unpaid leave need not come out of the employee's accrued PTO, though the choice to use accrued PTO is at the discretion of the employee. An additional 12 weeks of unpaid leave is available to a woman for an illness, injury, or condition related to pregnancy and childbirth (know as Pregnancy Disability). The total amount of leave may not exceed 3 consecutive months.
