Salary/Benefits
  • Wages are $11.55 per hour.
  • Length of job: 6 months
Work Hours
  • Part-time, 24 hours per week.
  • Four days per week or five shorter days, Tuesday through Saturday, 10:30am to 7:30pm, some evening or morning meetings, with some flexibility

Responsibilities

  • Train and supervise volunteers
  • Help keep Recycling area clean
  • Communicate with Receiving throughout the day, and replace containers as needed
  • Identify and act on priorities in recycling flow
  • Assist in setting up pick-ups and deliveries with e-waste vendors
  • Unload and load trucks as needed (after forklift training)
  • Assist in warehouse management
  • Proactively communicate with other Free Geek staff and volunteers about area.
  • Occasionally help out in other areas of Free Geek's operations.
  • Help keep recycling area in line with Free Geek philosophy and capabilities. Be aware of Free Geek programs.
  • Attend pertinent committee meetings and keep up on the recycling emails
  • Give tours

Required Skills

  • Aptitude for helping people
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Interest in e-waste recycling practices
  • Self-motivated, and able to eventually work with little supervision
  • Able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Forklift experience is a plus, but will train
  • Warehouse experience is a plus, but not required

The ideal candidate will be able to work well under stress in a somewhat chaotic setting and maintain a positive attitude. The candidate will not be afraid to ask questions, and will be able to remain flexible as Free Geek grows and changes.
