Scope of the Safety Committee

An effective safety committee solicits ideas, addresses and/or coordinates solutions to safety problems, discusses and helps investigate accidents, audits the progress of safety, provides a conduit to distribute information, and serves as the liaison with volunteers and staff within Free Geek. All members of the Free Geek community, volunteers as well as staff, benefit from the increased safety awareness, reduction of workplace hazards, and the implementation of safety rules that a safety committee can help provide.


Long term goals for the Safety Committee

  • Reduce the incidence of injuries and illness in the workplace
  • Work as a team to brainstorm and implement ideas that will improve safety in the workplace
  • Act as a means of communicating safety information to all employees and volunteers


How to report safety issues to the Safety Committee

Safety issues that need immediate attention

  • Secure the area and find a Safety Committee member, or Free Geek manager
  • write a short report to the Safety Committee explaining the issue
  • Safety Committee member will create an rt ticket, and update with any action taken, and if any further actions are needed
