Talk:Board Member Interest Form

So, here is a rewrite of the section talking about council; if we like this, then we can just paste it in the main page.

Hi! Before declaring your intention to run for Free Geek board, you may wish to look at our New Director Agreement and possibly even talk to one of the current board members about the responsibilities and limitations of our board, which is structurally somewhat unique.

Free Geek's Board members are elected in one of two ways. Our Volunteer Representatives are elected by their peers at our annual town-hall meeting, while other Board members who represent values and interests are elected by the Board itself.. This nomination form is your introduction to that body. We also set aside much of the Board meeting the month before the election for nominees to introduce themselves to the Board and to ask and answer questions - we highly encourage you to come and meet the current board members (who will be at that meeting). [Is this still accurate? I'm not sure how the schedule will look for electing new non-volunteer board members; is a month out still how we plan on doing things?] --Stephenforbush 17:37, 7 June 2011 (UTC)

I think it's safe to have most of this form mailed to the council list, but I think we shouldn't encourage people to publish their addresses, phone numbers, and emails on the council list. I think we should instead require thy send the contact info to the non-publicly archived staff list for safe keeping. RfS 08:35, 20 Apr 2006 (PDT)
