Talk:Keyholders
I am wondering what category for this page. HR? Sould there be a locks category? or security? MW 14:04, 13 Sep 2005 (PDT)
Probably should be protected, as that list is somewhat important. --Jeff
- Good suggestion. done. MW 08:06, 14 Sep 2005 (PDT)
Why, oh why, did we get rid of the lockbox? Seems like lost keys are more of a security threat than a lockbox. And i don't want extra keys to carry around. --Ideath 14:38, 20 Sep 2005 (PDT)
just having a staff collective member key makes me a member of staff? Vagrant 22:58, 14 Apr 2006 (PDT)
- Nope, but we did reserve those firstly numbered keys for the staff collective and you ended up with Christen's as a convenience. Whatev. RfS 12:37, 15 Apr 2006 (PDT)
I am guessing that the I in (#11E/I) indicats I key. Some non staff people have (#??E/I) who are not staff makeing the lists a little confusing (but not to bad). When the new keys come out can we combine the lists, or break them apart again? Matteo 08:43, 26 September 2006 (PDT)
- Adding to this question are the X and I keys numbered also? Matteo 07:52, 9 November 2006 (PST)
Should this page live on the secure wiki? I think at least the portion listing exactly who has keys to the safe should not be publicly viewable for security reasons, but a case could be made that the whole page should be tucked away. Tonyc 18:57, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
Could someone please note Francisco Marquez has E12? Tonyc 20:37, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

How to get a key
Core volunteers that need an external key can ask to be granted a key by the staff collective by sending a message to staff@freegeek.org and indicating what they need the key for. The collective will discuss the matter at the next possible staff meeting. Paid interns are granted keys as needed subject to review by the staff collective. If a keyholder loses a key, they must reapply to the staff collective.
For further information on who gets keys and how check out the After Hours Access Policy.
