Information may change rapidly as the event planning progresses.
(Do we want to move any of the meta-meeting minutes content (from RT) to this page? Luiz 00:48, 22 April 2009 (UTC))
The PR committee's regular meeting on May 9, 2009 has been set aside to be a long-term strategic planning session.
This page is a place to hold discussion to this end.
OK! Go!

Basket Of Tasks
Charter
What is our charter? Luiz pointed out that this is a separate question from defining our basket of tasks. since "basket of tasks" is Luiz's phrase, I'll defer to him and bust this out into a separate section:
Tony's version of the PR charter (Haiku)
Discern the message.
Spread the word far, wide and well.
Shut up and listen. Tonyc 22:04, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
Tony's version of the PR charter (Limmerick)
Figure out what The Geek has to say,
and then say it in a clever way
Spread the word to Joe Shmoe,
to the press and SludgeCo,
and then hear all the "boos" and "hoorays." Tonyc 22:04, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
Objectives
What do we want to achieve?
Develop tools to eliminate redundant work, such as:
- talking points
- case studies
- readily available stats regarding our org and work
- soliciting testimonials from orgs and individuals our work benefits
- maintaining media contact lists
- templates for responding to email solicitations
- designing content to be cross-platform (web/brochures/newsletters, generally keeping up-to-date summaries of our key messages that can be poached as needed).
Develop a more proactive approach to campaign management
Better our communication within FG to solicit content and priorities for our campaigns.
Develop better tools and contacts for generating content
- relationships with writers/photogs.
- open contact with other areas within freegeek (what's happening in other areas that we should be bragging about?)
Write more stuff
- newsletter
- press releases
- populate web site with new and good stuff
- case studies
- focussed brochures/printed materials for events/fd/ts/receiving, etc
- targetted outreach via ads/blurbs
SWOTs
What is the current internal/external situation regarding each of our Objectives?
A place to throw around as many SWOTs as needed. The first one I'm starting is specific to PR's role in building Community Partnerships.
Community Partnerships
(Now that RAD "ownes" CPs should this SWOT be moved to http://securewiki.freegeek.org/index.php/Community_Partnerships? Luiz 00:48, 22 April 2009 (UTC))
I don't think RAD "owns" this. It will always involve PR, especially in the initial phase, since PR is the one bargaining chip we have. What we offer is PR. They offer money and stuff. We need to get on the ball in order to demonstrate we have something to offer at all. The swot is a clumsy tool and it could be moved. But the discussion about what we can provide is squarely in our basket.Tonyc 03:55, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
