Cleaning Adoption Program
Adoption cleaning hours are for people who want to help keep our wonderful facility clean and comfortable for the community. It is also a great way to earn points towards an Adoption computer when other shifts are occupied but you want to be active in the program.
Here is a list of areas and instructions for cleaning, feel free to clean something that isn't on this list as well... Thank you for your help!
- Reception Area
- Sweep or vacuum the floors
- Take out the various garbage and recycling bins
- Check for ripped or damaged signs to be replaced
- If you find something that needs to be replaced, please let someone at the Donor or Volunteer desks know.
- Facility
- sweep or vacuum all floors - ESPECIALLY in the cafeteria by the food table
- Vacuum meeting room, hallway and lounge, classroom if no class in session, etc.
- Thrift Store
- sweep and mop floors
- clean windows (fill spray bottle with 1/2 vinegar and hot water for cleaner since Windex sprays chemicals into little bunnies' eyeballs. Use newspaper to wipe down glass.)
- water our poor, wretched plant
- Warehouse
- dust (do not use a wet rag):
- the keeper systems & shelves
- the tested monitors and their shelves
- sweep the entire warehouse
- clean the windows
- Commonly touched surfaces (read package of cleaning product; must say "disinfect")
- Sanitize doorknobs/bars
- Reception Area
- clean up free box (throw away any garbage, get all clothing in box)
- take a walk to Goodwill with old free box items
- remove outdated postings on bulletin board
