In the 6/5/10 PR Meeting we decided to split up the basket of tasks and each PR member would take a kind of facilitator/jockey role.
Email Jockey
- contact:
- Reviews all incoming email to the PR list on a timely basis (pretty much every day)
- Forwards relevant emails to the internal PR list (initial triage)
- Follows up with each forwarded email notifying the sender that the email has been received
- Notifies appropriate staff members about time sensitive emails
Tabling Events Coordinator
- contact: Laurel
- Researches and responds to requests for Free Geek's presence at tabling events
- Evaluates events to make sure they were worth attending. (after the fact)
- Coordinate tabling events trainings.
- Maintains and organizes tabling events supplies.
- Coordinates volunteers to attend tabling events. This does not include the coordinator attending all tabling events.
- If possible, delegates training to other employees/volunteers.
Press Release Wrangler
- contact:
- Oversees the writing of press releases
- Identifies possible subjects (not exclusively)
- Sends out press releases to media
Newsletter
- contact:
- Manages publication schedule
- Solicits newsletter-worthy stories from staff and volunteers
- Consolidates stories for each newsletter
- Copy-edits stories
- Sends out newsletter
- This does NOT mean that the Newsletter Coordinator contributes all content for the newsletter
RBAF Liason
- contact:
- Is available to answer questions about staff structure, policy, and organization history as it pertains to PR and relationship building.
- Attends RBAF meetings, as needed
Website Working Group
- contact: T

Swag Coordinator

- Organizes schwag (knows where it is, document where it is, documents how to order).
- This does NOT include hounding people to find out if new swag is needed, but instead is intended to respond to requests for new swag and to monitor swag in swag area.
Social Marketing
- contact:
- Maintains Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter accounts
- Makes self known to all staff as the point person for these accounts and encourages staff to send tweets, updates, etc. to Social Marketing facilitator
- Updates these accounts to some degree, but is not solely responsible for keeping them updated.
