At present, FreeGeek Tacoma is in the startup and planning stage of our life cycle, and the following benchmarks have been accomplished or are planned, as indicated below:

Licenses and Permits:

Articles of Incorporation: Filed April 5, 2006. Approved April 7, 2006.

Tacoma City Second Hand License: Not filed yet, estimated $150 funding needed. If we move the business outside of the City of Tacoma, we will not need this.

Current member count is: 4.

Current Board member count is 2.

We are currently unable to proceed with our Recycle and Build Programs until we obtain our Charitable Organization approval from the state, and locate a site where we can begin to process donated computers.

We currently have approximately 7 donated computer systems awaiting triage in preparation for deconstruction and testing.

We have CD copies of Darik's Boot and Nuke which have not been tested on hard drives.

We have CD's of CentOS, as well as Puppy Linux ready for installation.

We are in the midst of talks with Tacoma Metals, Inc. regarding our recycling program and how we're going to accomplish transporation, as well as sorting and categorization, as well as packing.

Customers

We have no current customers and no volunteers to accept rebuilt systems.

Distribution

Our online help system is functional, but we have no staff to operate it at the moment, and no installed workstations to support. Once the first workstation has been delivered, the Board members will man the Online Help system and begin the task of turning live questions into FAQ's that the system can automatically provide users, which will lessen the load of the online help system.

Management

Board positions and Staff assignment status is as follows:

Pending the result of our first election, these positions have been assigned by the Incorporator, Bob Holden.

  • President: Bob Holden
  • Vice President: Vacant
  • Secretary: Joel Carlson
  • Treasurer: Joel Carlson
  • Webmaster: Bob Holden
