Overview
Outreach is a staff committee that is open to volunteer participation. We cover a lot of different areas at Free Geek, so to make this more manageable we broke it down into five subcommittees and one over-sight committee called "Outreach", which can be reached by emailing outreach at freegeek.org. Each committee has a mailing list that can be joined by signing up at: http://lists.freegeek.org/listinfo.
- FG Events
- In charge of Free Geek parties and festivals, like Geek Prom, Geek Fair, and the holiday party.
- Meets seasonally, as needed. Generally, monthly for a few months before an event, then every other week, then weekly, then freakout right before the event.
- Email address: events at freegeek.org
- Inreach
- In charge of tours, volunteer rewards, core breakfast, front desk, public email addresses (like Volunteer@ and Info@), and large donation thank you notes.
- Meets once a month on Friday from 1-2pm and alternates with receiving meetings.
- Email address: inreach at freegeek.org
- Community Builders
- In charge of room use, tabling, relations with neighbors, and networking with other organizations. This is the warm and fuzzy side of Free Geek outreach, in which we can just "be" and pursue our obvious interests with other groups.
- Meets twice a month on the A week on Tuesday at 7pm at Free Geek
- Email address: communitybuilders at freegeek.org or commies at freegeek.org
- Fundraising
- In charge of fundraising, grants, and membership development.
- Meets once a month maybe. We will consult Marie.
- Email address: unknown at the moment
- PR
- In charge of media outreach & relations, ads & marketing, the main Free Geek website, and corporate donations solicitation
- Meets twice a month on the B week on Tuesday at 7pm at Free Geek
- Email address: pr@freegeek.org
- Outreach
- Once a month Tues morn at 10am when Technocrats meet. Oversight committee that may reduced as subcommittees become more self reliant.
- email address: outreach@freegeek.org
